How a supported-home bed is funded in Texas — with the official agency to verify.
In Texas, the residential support services in a supported home are paid by the Home and Community-based Services (HCS) Waiver and Texas Home Living (TxHmL) for IDD (run through HHSC and local IDD authorities; Texas keeps a long interest list), plus STAR+PLUS managed care for aging and physical-disability HCBS. Texas fills its HCS interest list first-come, first-served (chronological, not needs-based) — so the single most important step is getting on your Local IDD Authority (LIDDA) list as early as possible (or call 1-877-438-5658). Reported waits run many years. Being on the list does not affect the other Medicaid services you receive while you wait.
